My Guinea pig continues to be lethargic and stuffed up after having been treated for a URI by the vet?
She has had two rounds of antibiotics, 3 weeks apart, for a URI. This last round was for ten days. Shouldn't she be feeling better by now? Or is this normal? She is eating and drinking just fine, but has been laying around more.
Guinea pigs do not "rarely survive antibiotics", as the poster above suggests. I have six guinea pigs, and 4 of them have been on antibiotics at some point in their life, and all are alive.
Generally whenever guinea pigs die while on antibiotics, it's because of antibiotic intolerance (some pigs don't tolerate some types of antibiotics, much like some humans are allergic to penicillin, etc.), or because the pig is too lethargic to eat or drink properly, and they slowly waste away. Guinea pigs on antibiotics should be handfed with an oral syringe and Critical Care if they are lethargic, and weighed twice daily to ensure they are not losing weight. Also, a probiotic such as Benebac should be given in conjunction with antibiotics to help prevent the die-off of gut flora.
Depending on the URI (what bacteria caused it) it can be very difficult to get rid of. One of my guinea pigs, Gizmo, had a bordetella infection that required 5 months of antibiotics (14 days on them, he'd be better, a week would go by, he's start stuffing up again, more antibiotics, and so on), with 4 separate antibiotics (baytril, bactrim, ciprofloxin, and zithromax).
I would continue treating her URI, but try switching antibiotics, as the URI she's got could be resistant to the antibiotic you are given. Try to get your vet to culture her snot to see what bacteria are there and find out what antibiotic they are weak towards.
